Kretschmer discusses his family background and upbringing in Saginaw, Michigan; his education and military career; career in the nursing home industry; organizing the Cabrillo Music Festival; growth of the Santa Cruz Symphony; activities with the Pajaro Valley Concert Association, Santa Cruz Cultural Council, the music department of Fresno State University, the Crown Chamber Players and Barati Ensemble. This volume covers the years 1993-1999, particularly the founding of the Henry J. Mello Center for the Performing Arts, and developments with the Santa Cruz County Symphony and the the Cabrillo Music Festival.
